THE ZARAGOSSA
This famous Heddon lure was patented by William Stolley an employee of the Heddon lure company. It was first called The Florida Wonder and was made of wood until 1940 when the plastic version "The Zara Spook "was introduced.
In 1928 the Zaragossa was listed in Field & Streams fishing contest as having caught the two largest large mouth bas in their contest.
The Zaragossa is a top water fishing lure and any fish that takes prey from the surface would be a target. The lure is cast and then retrieved in a "walk the dog" fashion (side to side / zig zag) to mimic an injured fish.
Its name comes from a Heddon salesman describing this side to side motion as similar to the ladies of the night on Zaragossa Street in Pensacola Florida, an infamous red light district.
All lures come in an attractive wood presentation box, with a written history and a copy of the original patent drawing.
