DOWAGIAC PERFECT SURFACE CASTING BAIT

James Heddon (1845-1911) of Dowagiac Michigan should be considered the godfather of wood fish lures in the United States. This lure is his earliest and most important creation and was patented in April 1st 1902. The name was shortened to Dowagiac Expert in 1903 and is referred to as the slope nose by collectors because of the distinct sloping of the front of the lure Dowagiac (pronounced doe-wah-ge-ack) is derived from the native American Indian Pottawattamie language and means many fish.

All lures come in an attractive wood presentation box, with a written history and a copy of the original patent drawing.
