THE PIKIE
The Pikie lure was created and patented by Henry Dils in 1920 and was manufactured by The Creek Chub Bait Company of Garrett, Indiana. This legendary lure, produced for over forty six years, held world records for Bass and Muskie. It was suitable for any game fish.
As early as 1915, before the company began producing lures, Dills filed an application for a patent in improvements on the Pikie. He added a metal lip to the front of the lure that would throw spray, produce ripples, wriggle and dive, thereby attracting fish. This patent (#1,352,054 )was approved in 1920.
By 1936 Creek Chub was shipping to forty eight foreign countries and had created a Canadian branch. It was the largest lure company in the world at that time. Although Creek Chub closed in 1979, the Pikie is still a sought after lure.
All lures come in an attractive wood presentation box, with a written history and a copy of the original patent drawing.
