THE MUSTANG MINNOW

The Mustang Minnow was patented by Charles T. Pflueger of the Enterprise Manufacturing Company of Akron Ohio in June 1936. This large 5" minnow shaped lure had a large metal diving plane or lip which caused the bait to dive down and run below the surface of the water in a wiggling motion similar to a swimming baitfish. This heavy duty striped bass / bluefish lure had large heavy duty flashers mounted on the top and bottom of the lure. There are two reasons to use large swimming lures. One, the lure is generally heavier and casts farther. The other reason is to catch bigger stripers. Big stripers like big baitfish! Also remember to retrieve slowly for striped bass, and fast for bluefish.

All lures come in an attractive wood presentation box, with a written history and a copy of the original patent drawing.
