THE GLOBE BAIT

The globe bait was an early rotary head fish lure patented by

Charles T. Pflueger of the Enterprise Manufacturing Company in May 1937. Like many of the rotary head lures of the time, it was a floater that produced a churn in the water as the head rotated, to resemble a struggling insect, bird or injured fish. It was produced in three sizes, the 2 3/4" & 3 5/8" for bass or game fish and the larger 5 1/4" for muskie.

The feature that made the globe bait unique was the ability of the head of the lure, which is under spring loaded tension, to pull forward of the body. The fisherman could then remove any weeds or grass impeding the rotation. The spring in the body also allows the lure line to absorb any sudden tension from a snag or hit.

This lure come in an attractive Kraft presentation box with a written history, a copy of the patent drawing and a reproduction of the original packaging advertisement.
