HEIRLOOM LURES

HANDCRAFTED BY CHRISTOPHER AUGUSTUS
LUCKY 13
Originally introduced as the Wiggle King in 1908, this Heddon lure was redesigned to produce more commotion to attract fish and released as the Lucky 13. It was patented by William A. Stolley, a long time employee of James Heddon, and assigned to Heddon in 1921.
Taken from advertising: " This bait cast straight and true and floats until retrieved. When pulled, it drops to 18 " below the surface and comes in with an undulating, weaving motion, interrupted by short scintillating darts that cannot fail to excite the hungry attention of the crustiest old bachelor bass within sight ".
As for how it was named, most collectors believe that James Heddon's son William and Stolley went out on a fishing trip to test a prototype on June 13, 1919. They caught so many fish they called the lure The Lucky 13 !
Another great classic Heddon lure .
All lures come in an attractive wood presentation box with a written history and copy of the patent drawing.
